More Problems for Joe Plumber
As it turns out my suspicions were right. Joe doesn't stand to buy a business that makes over $250,000 net (taxable) profit. In fact, it doesn't look like he even has a plumber's license and he actually owes $1,200 in back taxes. This is more evidence that the Republican party has become little more than an extension of Fox News and their over-hyped propaganda techniques. I'm saddened by the tactics of a party that I had once supported. Didn't McCain consider that people might bother to do the math behind Joe's situation? Didn't he consider that people might actually understand American Tax policy? I suspect that tonight the facts about good ole' Joe and McCain's blunder will be plastered all over TV. If we've learned anything from this election cycle it is that McCain will rush to panic and grasp for anything to help his cause. He put about as much time in considering this attack as he did in selecting a VP candidate (one interview). This is not the man we want in the White House. We need a man that will think before acting.
Read more about Joe's situation...
FYI... I actually did have to call a plumber today. His name was NOT Joe and he makes less than $250,000 a year.

Thanks for posting this and for the info. I had not heard this...yet.
McCain is grasping for any angle he can get. Last nights debate was like watching an old episode of SNL when they had the grumpy old man routine...."In myyy dayyyy, we didn't have microwave ovens...."
Where do you get your up to the minute info from? Must be one of those slanted to the starbord side eh? I didn't hear or see any of that on cnn or cbs. Oh well, Joe the plumber or rachel the reamer it really doesn't matter I think Obama said it best "Joe if you or your company make a quarter of a million a year you need to be more willing to share your wealth. That's freakin Marxism at its finest boys, and straight from the mouth of a guy who has a law degree from Harvard but goes to work for a company for just at the povewrty level. So now he's finally makin money as a book writtin Washington politician and he probably will be the next president I just hope he doesn't take our ability to achieve the American dream financially I mean and throw it awaqy to 45 million or so non tax paying Americans that don't make enough to pay taxes. Of which I fit in that silly cayagory. And by the way when he finishes giving all the money he can to the poor of which I am not one of them may be you left wingers will get the message .When corporate America leaps for foreign borders to hide their profits. By the way I thought you guys liked this guy cause of his stance on war. He's a fdreakin hawk in doves clothes. Oh yea he'll get us out od Iraq but put us right in the middle of afghanistan and Pakistan, not that were not already but I thoughtthis guy hated war. What sayou to them words sir.
Anonymous,
Wow, you figured it out. Democrats want to throw all the nations money away on "poor people". It is a massive con job and we are on our way. Our goal is to turn America into a 3rd world nation and loose our families, homes, and businesses in the process. You got us! I guess the gig is up.
LOL!!! Simply do the research. Read the policies, do the math, and pay attention to history. Taxes were low in the 1800's. Care to go back? Taxes are low in the middle east because they have tons of wealth but no foresight to spend a portion of their oil wealth on infrastructure. Is that what you'd like? A middle-eastern model for a few wealthy families and the rest starving without basic necessities?
Did you pass 6th grade math? This so called "marxism" is simply asking a guy making $280,000 in net profits to give another 3% on the 30k over 250k (that's .3125% of his total income). That's merely $900. Not exactly marxism. Not much more than a token.
Progressive tax policy is simply smart economics. When people who benefit from our economy the most invest back in our infrastructure (roads, schools, courts, financial markets, energy distribution, r&d, etc.) we get it back many times over. Without a middle-class, capitalism falls flat on its face. If you want to see what happens when a nation doesn't invest in creating a strong middle-class, then just go visit a 3rd world nation. You'll get a few land owners and 99% peasants. Japan and now China is recognizing how well building infrastructure and a healthy middle class can work.
I have a business degree and run a successful business. I'm tired of our nation borrowing money and running up massive debt. I'm happy to chip in now so we can yield results down the road. Being a fiscal conservative (As I am) means being responsible and patriotic. Simply, it means paying our own bills.
Read the article. Yes, I got the info from that really "liberal rag" bloogberg.com. Those wall street liberals are really crazy with their "investments" and "capitalism". There are so many left win radicals down there on wall street. That Michael Bloomberg is a real liberal hippie trying to end capitalism as we know it.
Make sure you read in the article about those crazy liberal accountants who came up with the same numbers that I did. If that isn't bad enough the tax foundation and Dun & Bradstreet added to the confirmation about Joe's tax situation. Freakin' liberals!
LOL!!!!
LOL, He needs to vote for Obama, He is a loser, why does he keep trying. He will never have a $250,000 a year income. Unless he wins the lottery.
Vote for Obama and get in the foodstamp line.
Mike,
Great response above. Thanks for laying it out so plainly and crunching the numbers - that is helpful.
peace
