Colin Powell Endorses Obama
Colin Powell, one of the country's most respected Republicans, stunned both parties on Sunday by strongly endorsing Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) for president. I wonder if there is an Obama cabinet position in mind here.

I am soooooo excited about this. Hopefully it will help some "undecideds."
I knew this was going to happen. Powell left the Bush job for real disagreement with Romsfeld and his micro-management of the state of affairs in the war area. That was and should have been Powell's job for all countries out side of the war zone, but Romsfeld got the Bush/Cheney nod instead. Big mistake for W and this could be a big help to Obama's America. Powell is a well repected administrator; maybe not for his war time decision making but for his position as a elitest board member. It was Powell after all that pulled the reigns on stormin Norman .and would not let him anihilate Saddam's Republican guard durring the first gulf war
GOOD Point Michael it was this same republican guard that we let "lay down their weapons in the second gulf war and they have been the main combatants fighting in Iraq. Good for Obama about General Powell perhaps he would get another opportunity to be an American diplomat if Obama gets elected. I'm not sure if I like this or not....... still undecided and afraid.
Michael,
I'm not sure what think of Powell either. He seems to have better judgment than some, but he might also have been influenced by the Cheney war mentality. After all, he was embedded deeply in that cold war era group of fear mongers.
The 1st gulf war pull out was clearly an administration wide policy. Here's Dick Cheney speaking about the pull-out shortly after it happened and before the 2nd war...

As you can see, he knew the problems with an occupation in that part of the world. I guess he either forgot, or a few years of being CEO for Haliburton changed his perspective. I guess it's hard to see clearly with dollar signs in your eyes. Well, at least his stock options went through the roof during the 2nd war. What's the big deal if 500,000 people die in the process, right?
