Quote of the week...
“When we culturally and socially create a picture of a self-obsessed God, it is hard to motivate people to be different than that God.” - Miroslav Volf
Chad pointed out to our home group a few weeks ago that we need to understand the difference between worship and admiration. I can't help but think that our obsession with worship services, sacred rituals, and worship music seem to paint a flawed picture of God that looks more like ourselves than the picture Jesus painted for us.

That is a good quote and food for thought.
Verry interesting...but I can't help but wonder what is the difference between worship and admiration. I'm still verry new to this worship thing I have recently come to believe.
I would love it if we could sit down and talk about this I am sure you could help me understand better
Thanks for the comment Jay. For me, admiration of God is a good thing, but you can admire someone and still not have a relationship with them. Admiration does not always lead to loving God.
Worship is a life style of accepting God's vision and beginning to transform your life and transform the universe into something that looks more like his vision. Admiration is a good place to start, but for those of us that have been admiring God for most of our lives, it can become empty unless we continue to be transformed into a new state of being.
Thanks for the reply. that helps a little but as you know i'm always full of questions on what I dont understand. i believe this will keep my nugget working for a while though.
